Youth Exchange
„Truth Seekers: Unraveling the Web of Fake News”
Ankara, Turkey
21/04/2025-28/04/2025

From April 21 to April 28, I had the incredible opportunity to take part in my first
Erasmus+ Youth Exchange – Truth Seekers: Unraveling the Web of Fake News –
hosted in Ankara, Turkey.

Participants from six countries came together to deepen our understanding of
misinformation and its impact on the youth and communities involved. “Truth
Seekers” program offered by a non-profit “Türkiye Verimlilik Vakfı” and co-funded by
the Erasmus+ Programme gave me a strong mix of theory and hands-on practice:
from identifying disinformation and misinformation, and video creation to exploring
the usage of AI, effective use of critical thinking skills and article writing. As a
journalism student, I can confidently say that this program broadened and solidified
my knowledge.

Besides theory, we were introduced to practical tasks and as a part of our program
we visited The 7th Efficiency and Technology Fair organized by the Turkish Efficiency
Foundation at ATO Congresium. At the fair we were able to see and test the world’s
most advanced technology and ask questions from the experts.

But Erasmus+ is far more than just learning – it’s also about building meaningful
connections and discovering cultures. Fortunately, I was lucky to be surrounded by
like-minded people and I now have friends all across Europe, and mutual invitations
to visit each other in Poland, my home country, and beyond! During our cultural
nights, we collectively shared traditions, connected through dance and music, tasted
local dishes, and played games. I got a chance to learn about Turkish, Dutch, French,
German, Polish, Georgian, Armenian, Kazakh, Kyrgyz, Indian, Pakistani, and
Hungarian cultures firsthand!

Moreover, we have already started having small reunions by visiting each other in
our countries and cities or coming to the same projects. Our project chat is still
active, and each time we meet up with our exchange-mates, we send a picture there.

I actively keep in touch with a few of my past projectmates, and am excited to greet
them again in Warsaw to show them the beauty of the city and tell them more about
Polish culture or to come visit them in their countries!

We were also lucky to explore Ankara, guided by our amazing Turkish teammates,
who proudly introduced us to their rich history and culture. The capital of Türkiye is
diverse, fun, and beautiful, while locals are kind and always eager to help.

At the end of the program, we were awarded Youthpasses – one of my favorite
reminders of the knowledge gained and friendships built. I’m truly grateful for this
experience and excited for the future opportunities Erasmus+ may bring. It is a truly
unique chance for young people to take, and I recommend it for everyone who
wants to experience their youth to its full potential.
Until next time, Truth Seekers! Thank you for making my first Erasmus+ youth
exchange eventful, educational, and memorable.
